very slim chance of warping a A series head seeing how they're about 1' long!!!
I did mine about 3 months ago and the gasket set from burson's was about 26 bucks.
takes about 40mins to get the head off. i would get it surface ground and hardness tested. Clean block with wet and dry and about 1hour to put back on and adjust rocker lash.
easy.

After all those symptoms it turned out to be a dodgey radiator cap. I think i accidently got some muddled up in my shed and chucked the wrong one on. After catching the train to work for 4 days and not being happy bout the effort. On the posetive side my mechanic tuned her up nice, adjusted the clutch and fixed a few small niggles that I had been too lazy to deal with! Thanks for the help Ed
