Ah yes, the Mazda rotary.
Goes like $hit off a stick, loud as all hell, with a noise that irritates like no other. Fuel consumption of a V8, & a seal life expectancy [at revs] of a flashbulb.
It's an amazing invention, but it will never replace the internal combustion engine.

Uh, the Mazda rotary is an internal combustion engine. I think you meant to say it will never replace the reciprocating-piston engine. I doubt if anyone expected that ... when you have two good products, one doesn't necessarily replace the other. People like choice.

gee thanks for putting that into perspective

im my opion rotars are good for drag and nothing else, but if like they say its cheaper in america to do a rotor then it may be tempting

the one thing im not sure of is if i was building a drag car, would i use a rotor or not

rotors are used in the 6 cyl class, they put out just as much horsepower as a 6 cylinder with less than half the weight. i can make some good money. especially with the 20b

that money would go straight back into repairs on the rotory after each drag, apprantly the life expectancy of a rotor is rather bad. i'd rather hell modify a SR20det or VG30det, would be cheaper in the long run.

has anyone seen NZ 4's and rotory championship videos? ummm cant remember what year this one was but they did a demonstration, too see what engine would last longer at high revs, a rotory and a 4AGE i think it was....the rotory blew up in 10 seconds and the piston engine over 1-2 min from what i remember, correct me if i am wrong.

So let me see if I have this straight. If you over-rev a piston engine, it fails. If you do the same to a rotary, it fails also. Hmmm ...

the engines werent actually in a car they were just hooked up to a battery sitting on some stand revving hard, dont know how much but sounded like it was red lining.
