I'm wondering if theres any advantage of running a dual SU/Hitatchi setup on an A15 vs. single DCOE on a Canon manifold? Any of you guys run the duals? I've got a dual weber manifold but its not going to fit well at all so I was planning on running my single canon/DCOE setup but am interested in finding out more about the SU setup.

No great advantage. In both cases you are feeding two cylinders with one carburetor bore.

The Hitachis are extremely simple and easy to tune. Also has a built-in balance tube for vacuum advance and vacuum brakes

The DCOE is well-known and will require no syncronization since it is single carb

I would fit whichever one you like the looks of.

and because you have access to the canon manifold, coz we don't have them over here..

the SU's would be nice for mild street engine..
the DCOE/DHLA leaning slightly towards more performance..

Thanks guys. I thought I'd heard the DCOE was temperature temperamental - i.e. cold /rough running vs. the SU's, any truth to that idea? that was my only real concern - other then I always thought dual SU's would look pretty cool

I've always heard lots of rumours about DCOE and also about SU-type carbs. It seems none of them are true.

The factory Datsun twin carbs use a water heated manifold, so the temp should be even.

guess I'll stick with the single DCOE since you sold your SU setup & I cant weasel that out of you somehow. I still think dual SU's would look cool on that A15 though.

I had twin sidedraught webbers (45mm) on a series 2 Astron engine out of a magna over here, i ended up using a synchronisation setup from an Alfa, after that it was needing a tune every 6 months instead of every month :). It just comes down to your tuner... They are a Dime a dozen but when you find a decent tuner, stick with him, cause they are hard to find. Well, around my way they are anyways :)
