a12 + Series 2 bluebird dizzy problems

Hi All,
i think im running a series 2 bluebird dizzy in my a12 (previous owner did the conversion)

a business (who shall remain nameless) decided to use a 1960 morris minor wiper switch as a kill switch and wired it to the coil.. and then.. earthed it on itself! :!:

the result is that the pulse from the dizzy signals has been looped back on itself by a bad killswitch and stuffed the dizzy so now between certain rev ranges it sputters..

the engine has been on a vacuum gauge and had tappets and a tune today and all of that is spot on (done by an automotive engineer)

I think it's an series 2 based on the cap number.. it has a sticker on the side saying dizzyfix?! can't find any info on that company!

I was wondering:
1. Does anyone know a good wrecker I could find a new blubird s2 dizzy from in good nick?

2. Would it be cheaper to find someone who fixes these? and could you recommend?

3. Would it be smarter to go back to using a stock a12 dizzy and if so would i need to change my coil?

4. Would there be a different electric setup that is preferable to the s2 bluebird?

Are you sure its a series 2 bluey dissy as they should not fit. I got one here if you need one.

Check you have the right coil because the series 2 blue distributor needs the factory series 2 bluebird coil or a bosch hec715

I'll just go down and check.. but would that cause sputtering ONLY between certain rev ranges?

but it is a common conversion?
it wouldn't be unreasonable? i couldn't find any info on here about the process of converting a bluebird specifically it's all pulsar and others.. do you have any info on the conversion?

Im not too sure about that particular coil but from my experience the bluebird dizzys will play up with the wrong coil

Got a series 2 dissy with bosch coil you can have for $100. Worked well in our race car.

Hi Ivan!
was that running with an a12?

The offending dizzy.. has a controller silver looking thing at the base.. is this actually an S2 bluebird? if it is (im only going off the bosch cap number).. id be very interested in your dizzy ivan if it's in good nick??

apparently it's deft not a bluebird dizzy.. i'd love to know what it is..

either way does anyone have a contact for someone who'd do dizzy repairs???

alternatively i'd love to know if anyone has a modified electric dizzy to suit an a12 that is in good working order..

I would love to swap this out for another electric dizzy and coil but am not sure which would be the best replacement and even how to make the modifications to the dizzy to make it work..

the reason i thought it to be a bluebird was that the cap part # matched..

the e15 looks like a common swap but there are things on the wiki i don't understand or aren't too clear to me..

"Before drilling a new hole for the roll pin, ensure there is sufficient end float at the top of the gear. (Use a shim or similar when drilling). The clearance required is minimal but is needed to ensure the distributor spins freely" in the e15 modification wiki.. there are some things that aren't clear to me.. can someone point out what the roll pin is and where it is on the dizzy and what kind of clearance is needed?

"drill a new hole in the shaft, grind, file and drill the housing" - what is the hole in the shaft used for and where is it drilled.. "grind file and drill the housing" - where, by how much and why?
