yeh just took off the rocker cover
wiped it down
hit the lettering with a 36 grit pad
changed to a 120
levelled it all out
then hit it all round by hand with 120
and worked my way up grades till i was on wet rubbing
polished it with some mag wheel polish stuff
lightly hit it on the polishing wheel.
but it needs to be redone as i still have scratches from jumping the gun in grades.
sprayed the centre black and happy days.
ill get a better pic of it in some different light
as when its cast the lettering is a different color
so even tho you can polish it all you want the nissan lettering is still faintly visable in a different shade of color.

tiny bit more progress on the coupe.
devo i cant drive her to datsun day :(
wiring is 70% done
auto elec said it will be running by friday.
pretty keen for that
got bored and a mate decided to happy snap the car.

things left to do
[] find/get made radiator
[] fab up suitable airbox (thinking mounting afm to one side of the box as theres not enough space to run it out like normaly)
[] buy carpet and put interior back in.
[] buy venetions :P
[] get the r31 diff cut down and the tailshaft to suit.
[] mount sway bar brackets.
[] mount surge tank
[] make fuel return line
[] add oil and bleed brakes.
[] engineers cert.

not much to update.
waiting for the 4th for the diff to go in (r31 lsd)
and the week after that full exhuast.
but fitted the flares to see how i like them.
not really happy with the rears ill be cutting those back a fair bit and fiberglassing a new lip on as there far to wide and out of shape.
fronts are ok but might skim them down in width a fraction so they dont look out of shape.
wired up my thermo and water jets.
guy i was buying bobtail spoiler off ebay had a hissy fit because i asked why it was going to cost 130 for a front lip and 150 for the spoiler +$340 postage.
when ive had a front lip sent over from the same location for $30.
so im still on the hunt for a bobtail spoiler.

not much to update.
cars gone to the diff place for r31 shortening.
bought a new bonnet from silverwater jap wreckers (grahams wreckers $130 stoked)
little bits and pieces here and there.
ordered new flares and bobtail spoiler. should be here in 2 days and ill fit them when the car gets back to me.
also bought 15x7 watanabes of jake off this site. hopefully there on the way soon.

will order pacemaker headers and get a full exhuast done 2.5" to a xforce varex (butterfly remote muffler) with a dumpy tip to hide the view of the butterfly :).
then off to the engineering shop.
after its engineered , do all rustwork and bodywork to the same standards as my ute and respray it
gunna do a little test paintjob while the paintwork is ratsh1t. white with black bonnet, top of gaurds to around rear window (slr5000 style)
reason: havent seen it done yet and wanna see what its like
if i dont like it car will get resprayed same as engine bay straight tinter white. or all black.

few questions regarding the dash.
i wanna keep the genuine gauges (even tho its in mph)
is it easier to convert the speedo cable
or is it better to buy all autometer gauges for speedo tacho water temp oil pres etc and get that wired in?
thanks :) license back in under 2 months woo

That looks real good, is that FRP GX hood?

I still reckon you need the long-stem mirrors Nathan.
