Looking at selling my engine over the next couple of months to make way for a different motor. Just a heads up really for people who might be interested, the sale however, is not definite.

Specifications:

Bottom End:

A12 74.5 Bore
Full floating flat-top pistons with fly-cuts
Balanced bottom end from front pulley to clutch pressure plate
Wade 224A Camshaft
Lightened and knife edged crankshaft
Lightweight pushrods
Lightweight & perforated flywheel
Brass button clutch

Top end:

Aluminium Valve retainers
Double Valve Springs, fresh
Ported and planed H75 head with lots of potential
bprojects inlet manifold with twin japanese Mikuni carbs

Ignition:

Big bosch dizzie with bosch coil,no vacuum advance
10mm ignition leads, nice and fat to carry a decent spark

Additional info:

Engine was freshly rebuilt weeks ago, I spun a big end bearing due to being a little impatient with the oil-pressure priming (either that or I wasn't patient enough on the break-in) but anyway I have fitted a stock crank and it's all running good, this time I'm breaking it in slowly. I am working to get the knife edged crank back into the engine. It's a good motor that I have enjoyed having, I am looking to go for a bigger engine with a little more torque at lower rpms. This one was fine but it's lightened internals coupled with a 224 cam and a brass button clutch meant it's a temperamental engine that only likes to be driven hard, basically no good for a daily but good fun for an occasional drive. The motor is tuned but could certainly do with some finer tweaking. I'll need to confirm the comp ratio again but it was around 8.5 last time I checked, obviously room for more compression and more power.

The engine goes hard and screams like a banshee, it could really do with an air-box to quieten down the carbs and could also do with a tamer camshaft. The induction roar is very aggressive and pretty damn loud, sounds sweet though.

Price: Looking for offers over $2000.00 and I am somewhat interested in swaps or swaps + cash.

Contact: email preferred or PM

Here is the most recent picture of the engine:

Here is a video of it before the rebuild, it had chronic blow-by but still went well.

If I go A12 it will be turbo. Nice looking bit of kit though.

Cheers, yeah it's a veteran race motor that won a fair few races. Since then I've changed the head and block (previous block was beyond limits to suit the pistons, required an upsize in pistons) and induction though. Was running twin 45 webers and pulled 100hp at the wheels.

Haha so what remains of the race motor?

Pistons, crank, cam, dizzie, ignition, conrods, tappets, pushrods, flywheel, clutch, starter, front pulley, timing cover, roll master adjustable timing gear, timing chain, water pump etc etc etc etc

GX head removed in place of one with smaller ports, hence better low end power. If you want a GX head back on it then I can arrange for a brand new GX head to be put on, fork out the big bucks for that.

45mm carbs removed and replaced with 40mm for improved air-speed and better low end power, if you want 45's back then buy your own and I'll keep the mikuni's.

Block was exchanged because as I said it was beyond clearance to suit those pistons, old block is here if you want it all it is is a 74.5mm block.

So what is left of the race motor?

With the old head and big 45's the thing won't even idle let alone start making power after 5000. Like I said if you want all that back on sure thing, just amend the price and be prepared for a nightmare getting it to run right and behave.

Pity it isn't an A14 otherwise I would have been interested.

All this engine talk goes over my head.
