Where there's a will there's a way! I might get an aluminium race seat to get every last mm of room for my daddy long legs.
Had a bit of a play today and found some ugly rust. Anyone done any rust repairs in the same spot I have mine? It's a prick of a spot. It's bad under the ledge where the firewall is connected to the top cowl panel. I'd love some advice on how people have fixed this before. Cheers.

pretty sure that where the water goes from the grills in front of the windscreen, mine had it there too, not quite as bad.. cut it out and put new plates in there, kinda crucial area i think being near where the firewall attaches....

I spoke to him last night but he hadn't heard back from Vicroads yet. Apparently it can take up to a week to get a reply! Fancy that, a government department taking forever to get something done! They probably pass the details around the room to see if anyone has the balls to actually make a decision on it.

I had an interesting conversation with him about some oddball conversions he's approved or denied in the past. One poor bastard that he was about to ring to tell him the bad news had started to build a Ford Capri with a twin turbo V8 in it a couple of years ago when the rules were a bit softer but this year the VSB's (Vehicle Standards Bulletins) became not just a guideline for the engineers to follow, they became the law that was to be followed to the letter. So this bloke has spent god knows how much on his build only to find out that he could now no longer engineer it for the road. Can't be happy about that!

Hopefully next week I'll know what's happening. I'm losing my confidence as each day goes by.....

I thought ahead of time getting my compliance. As soon as the mechaniscals were done I got them complianced....and my car has sat idle for about 6 years complianced for just about everything you can possibly alter on a vehicle.

I bought a MIG welder today off ye olde Ebay. Hopefully do the job for making mounts and welding in new panels. It's an inverter MIG so hoping the adjustability will be better than a transformer type. Time will tell! Gotta remember how to weld now. I'm gunna get some old panels off a panel beater and get a bit of practice welding sections in them as I've only ever welded heavier stuff before. I don't have the hands of a surgeon either so the more practice I can get the better!

Any updates Shoota? I looked into the vehicle classifications and it seems like there is a conflict from what I saw. As I read it you needed to be a min. 1000kg to be classified as "NA", unless it was optional, and the % of GVM was the key criteria. Nonetheless, you got me very interested.
