Shoota
Please show some pics of the welding. I am keen to see how your new welder goes.
I just bought something similar to learn how to weld, so I want to see what is possible before I chuck a tantrum at the welder for being crap.

I just bought a 200 amp tig, but I noticed Shoota bought a mig. Sorry for the slight highjack.

unfamilia- cheers for the 120Y info, I'll hafta track one down and rip the tunnel out.
Micksute- I've been pretty happy with my welder. I haven't done much welding yet. Once you get the voltage/wire speed right it puts down a pretty good weld.
This is some piss farting around I did when I first got it-

The welder is just a Chinese import jobby but it's a 200 amp inverter. Crap photo sorry but this is it-

gasless, good luck- i bought a 2nd hand sip gasless, its holding the exhaust flange on the rear hot dog, so looks like its penetrated strong enough. looks to have done ok on the steel there.

I'm running mine with a 93% argon, 7% CO2 mix. This gas is also ok for welding stainless which I intend to have a crack at for some intercooler piping or something down the track.
I wouldn't even bother with gasless, I need all the gelp I can get!

hey champ good to see your going to have a crack at welding stainless... the only major concern is with that, is you have to make
sure the stainless is really clean otherwise your welds wont be to crash hot...
nice welder by the way... i need to get another one as mine got busted up in the car crash i was in...
I've always been a fan of the cig welds though...

Ok, been bloody slack lately. Just been trying to get the engine mounts sorted in the bugger all spare time I get. Going from a 6 day to 5 day work week soon so that might help! Getting serious grief from the missus for what little time I spend out there as it is so it might not make any difference! I'm sure you guys know what I'm talking about!

Anyway, I've pretty much finished the engine mounts but I'm not quite 100% happy with them. I might even completely redo them so they're perfect. We'll see. They ended up being about 10mm too low. I dunno how I f'd it up! I've got them spaced with a few bits of 0.6mm plate each side so looks a bit aggy-

I decided to have a break from the engine side of things today so started working on the clutch setup under the dash.
I ground down the upper end of the pedal where the cable normally connects and then welded in a bit of matching thickness steel so I can redrill a hole for the master cylinder rod. It came up pretty good-

I'm not sure if I'll end up using this mount but you've gotta start somewhere! I wanted to make sure it was going to be rigid enough for if I put in a heavy duty clutch. Be great to snap a master cylinder mount mid quarter! Anyway, this is how it looks for now. Just gotta drill a 33mm hole in the middle then drill the bolt holes. It might end up being a bit bulky but I'll put all the dash in before I get too worried-

Just to give you an idea how it would roughly look-

Melted the crap out of a mig tip today. Not sure why? Too much voltage maybe?

Bought a few new bits over the last few weeks-

Bosch 044 fuel pump-

Just waiting to hear back from some metal fab guys who will make me a surge tank. Going to run dash 8 braided hose from the surge to the engine. I'm going to mount the surge tank under the tray on the passenger side. I'm also going to remotely mount the battery under the tray as well. Might be a prick of a job but will be a lot neater than the usual in the tray/boot job.

3" High flow cat-

They flow about 3 times more than a normal cat.

Turbo dump pipe-

Regretted buying this as soon as I got it as it doesn't have a 3 inch outlet. I've tracked one down that does so anyone want an SR20 dump??

I got two of these 9" super slim thermo fans. There's bugger all room at the front so need everything to be as thin as possible-

I've bitten the bullet and bought a Maddat trans tunnel as well. I wanted to do all of it myself but as panel isn't my strong point I'll make an exception!

nice clutch set up, look at datsandys and tomos under dash remote set ups. bit more compact for under dash units.

where dd you get the 9inch fans? i need a new one to push through air.

i like the 2.5 inch dump... keep it and then go 3 inch. theres stuff all room for a 3 inch proabably anyway for off the self items.

the mounts look ok. like you say a bit agricultural but better this way so you can lower the engine later on but if you put one on the top mount and one on the bottom one, would look better and probably spread the load a little better from my understanding.
