Nice progress.

Looks like the contact tip got melted by "back burn" where as the name suggests the wire gets burned up after you stop.

If you welder has back burn control just dial it up a bit. it will feed wire after you stop to prevent this.

Cheers

Ed

unfamilia- The fans are good old Ebay jobbies. It only cost me about $75 for the two of them. I just searched through the multitude of them on there and found the slimmest one I could find. You can wire them up as either push or pull.

Ed- I'm pretty sure you might be right about the burn back control, I've never played with that switch so I'll give it a go, cheers!

Nice work on the clutch pedal assembly but you could use an R31 clutch pedal box. It's made for a hydraulic setup so your clutch master will lineup on the other side of the firewall and only requires mods at the pedal pad end and some bracing to the steering column box. Keep up the good work.

Hey cadet1200, thanks for that. I would do an engine bay master but seeing as I'm using an S14 engine there just isn't the room in the engine bay for it. As it is the 10mm spacing rule is coming into play for the space between the brake master cylinder and the inlet manifold. The clutch just wouldn't fit full stop.
It's all trial and error! Fun fun.

I got myself some new Volksy rear intrusion bars so I'm definately re-doing the engine mounts. Not happy with the aggy look anymore! F#&k it all, the first set (I should say sets, again lots of trial and error!) took me 3 days to make, hopefully the next set will be a bit quicker!!

Got the boys in the transmission/diff workshop at work to drill a nice hole in my bracket for the clutch. I've got a slight lack of 33mm drill bits at home so thank god for utilising other departments at work for a change!

This is engine mount design number 25. That's what it feels like anyway! It's still not perfect. My spacing is out by about 8mm to one side. I just can't get the bloody thing perfect!
Hopefully rather than having to completely redo it I'll be able to modify this one. I am OVER f'ing engine mounts!!!!

Very dorky I know but I decided to do a video log of my build on Youtube as well. I'll just do an update every time I'm actually getting somewhere.
Here's the first installment from last week-

Yeah, David Attenborough is coming around next week!

Been too bloody busy to do anything let alone video it. Like you mate, work and family comes first!

I can officially admit here and now though that I'm a soft c0ck! After spending 3 days trying to perfect my own engine mounts, Datsandy's cross member came up and I caved in! I looked at it two ways- I've wasted 3 days so far and the other way is it might have taken me another day to get the mounts exactly how I wanted them so it's a win lose scenario! I've also now got to live with the fact that I'm piss weak for using fabricated stuff when I wanted to do it all myself.
Ah well. Next time!

Speaking of fabricated stuff I got myself a Maddat trans tunnel as well as this is one area I knew I was weak! Gotta weld the thing in now which should be fun.

If I can flee the house on Friday I'll get stuck into it!
