hello all, found a nice stanza 5 speed, just wondering what needs to be done to bolt her on the back of an A series! thanks!

easier to drop in the Lseries, and cheaper than getting an a series 5 speed.
i think some people have done it with an a series auto bell housing grafted onto the front. but its still not a stright out conversion.
Lagwagon and sikyne did something about it from memory

short answer can be done but requires alot of work because you have to lathe down the input shaft to suit the a series crank. not a cheap thing when the input shaft is hardened believe me ive done it with a 63 series dogleg 5 speed. you have to strip the box to get the input shaft out anyway. then there is the bellhousing. completly different, then there is the clutch and clutch hydraulics and pedal completely different ( i had to have a custom clutch made to suit the 63) then the tailshaft and mounts. but the gear stick is in the right spot :) basically it would be cheaper to buy an a series 5 speed and im telling you from experience lol what i did was went to the local wreckers and found a bluebird. stole the whole clutch pedal and hydraulics setup as well at the tailshaft and speedo cable. the grafted that into my 1200 coupe. the tailshaft bolted up to my h165 but realistically it needs shorteningby maybe 15mm. have a go if you want, it has been done but it isnt a fun job!!!!

That transmission is probably the stumpy 63A for L16-powered 1978-1981 A10/Stanza/510. Is it approximately 26.3" long overall? That's the same length as a stock 1200 transmission and same as the Skyline stumpy 71B 5-speed.
The usual way to fit to an A-series is to find a 63-series for A14 from a B210 and unbolt the front case and swap them. These are basically the same transmissions, one for A-series the other for L-series.
If you can find a broken A14 5-speed (63 series), you might obtain it cheap and re-use the front case (the part with the bellhousing).
