I need some help with my fiel delivery problem. Car is 73 1200 coupe, stock as a rock. When i got the car i was told it had a blocked fuel line. Car ran fine with a hose from the fuel pump to a jerry can. I cleaned the fuel line with compressed air and throttle/carby cleaner and it wont start or run. I used fresh fuel in the tank, and there's no filter before the fuel pump. Is there something else i can try?

Have you looked in the fuel tank? cause there could be all sorts of crap in there, it might have reblocked the fuel line after you cleaned it out.
Also check flow from the fuel pump (into a glass jar etc) whilst cranking the motor.

yeah nigel, i think thats where i am at, just leaving pulling the tank out till last, fuel pump is fine, when it runs from a jerry can there's no dramas, the change is adding the fuel line and tank. see how i go tomorrow. making good progress over all, should be done by my next break which is week after next. another datto on perth roads hopefully.

once you get it sorted you should have a filter before the pump, otherwise your next problem will be blocked jets in the carby

Fuel pressure may be fine before the Carb but under pressure (@ the carb) the fuel pump may be struggling. could a pin hole in the diaphragm. i had a similar prob and put a electric fuel pump and car has never faulted that was 10 years ago..

cheers rugger, it runs fine if there's a hose from a jerry can into the fuel pump, jus when i hook fuel line back up from fuel tank is when it wont start or run.
