I've done my search and found out that the utes don't have a replaceable unis.
Does anyone in Brisbane knows a shop that would modify the tailshaft or make a new one? I've read it's roughly $500 for a new one?
But someone I'm Melbourne makes one from scratch for $220?
I don't mind paying the postage cost but what sort of info do they need to make a new one?

Cheers

Saw a YouTube tutorial on replacing staked unis. Has anyone in here done it before?

The guy in melb quoted me 400 for new one, he needs distance from rear of gearbox housing to diff flange. They also like the depth of the shaft protruding from rear of box ( bout 10 mm)
He might need diff flange and input shaft too.

Should be places in grizzly that can
Do them easy enough

The question it comes down to is whether or not there happens to be an off the shelf uni-joint that will fit inside the yokes, and is narrow enough to allow the circlips on the inside of the two 'fingers' of each yoke, and lastly if the insides of those fingers are flat, and can therefore mount a circlip at all.

Is this a modified tailshaft? as I noticed there's a grease nipple I thought the stock ones dont have one?
Also I was told the ute had vibrations occuring around 60kph
but I tried shaking the tailshaft and doesnt seem to have a play, how else can I check it?

theres a little bit of angle on that front uni. you wont be able to tell unless you putt shaft out and rotate by hand, even in a vice to check for play. they should be able to just cut out unis and put replaceable ones in and measure to same lengths.

The rear ones have circlips as far as I can see, so they can be changed any time.

The fronts look like theym might do, but I can't tell for sure from that picture.

To check the unis you really need to remove the tailshaft, then 'flop' the yoke about. It should move quickly and smoothly, to the end of its travel in each of the 4 directions .

The oil is probably seeping out over the front yoke from a worn extension housing/output shaft seal on the gearbox.

TO find leaks in general - don't look for the 'dirty' stuff - that's where oil has collected and grit has started to build up. The source of the leak has new oil (slowly) flowing through there and washes itself clean all the time. So look for oil but oil without any debris/grit on it.
