when the lights from oncoming traffic hits my windshield it creates an effect like circles around the light spot....like when when u looking at the sun.

Get a buff and a fine cut cutting compound (for paint) and buff the $hit out of it! Then finish it with a finer polish and it will make a big difference. Treat it as though you're cutting and polishing paint, it will have the same effect.
Personally I'd replace the windscreen but thats just me!!

+1 for replacing the windscreen. I am in the process of getting rid of mine, due to 32 years of sandblasting. You dont go face first into the wind for 30+ years and not come out unscathed. Plus, the laminating technology has come a fair way since the screens were first put into the old girl, and lets be honest, if the very worst happens while you are driving a 1200, you need all the extra safety you can get.

At least you got laminated windscreens. Some of the Japan 1200s had non-laminated safety glass. My friend was driving down the road when his windshield shattered into little pieces.

thnx shoota....datsuns are almost extinct here Mauritius....i doubt i will be able to find a new windscreen here....still i will keep looking for it....if i have been able to find 4 doors in very good condition by pure hazard....why not the windscreen?
infact, around 7 years ago a metal recycling company open its doors, since then all the old cars with same age as the datsun era have almost disappeared. the datsuns had great resale value during the 80's. but by the 90's due to them not being produced anymore, its value went down in peak + with all the tropical rainfall here, its body was very prone to rust, like a plague, well this applies to other cars as well, one more reason why people decided to rid of'em :(
nowadays people treat their with great care not only coz of the above reason, but also due to the high cost in acquiring a car, ther is no production plant in mru, all cars are imported and customs charge us almost 100% in tax plus registration fees, insurance and road tax.
i dnt know how it is elsewher in the world but this is the pain we have to go through here in our small island
