Dudes,

Can anyone tell me what rack and pinion setup they have used successfully with a Datsun 1200.
I want to know how wide I can go with the steering rack?
I'm looking at using a Strange Engineering Stiletto rack which is 24" wide. I already have a chrommoly steering column with all associated joints and plugs.

Cheers

dat383 did a write up on his installation of a forward steering rack setup.
I believe that he had to swap the strut and brake assemblies from side to side to have the steering arms point forward. Put "Rack & Pinion Steering" in the
site's search feature to your left. There are others that have done this.

Thanks Craig,

That's pretty much the same thing I wanted to do.

Cheers

You are welcome Mate!!!

I don't know how the forward caliper would affect brake cooling, but I do know that the forward rack arrangement leaves LOTs of room at the back for a rear sump engine. Good luck with your project.
