hi all.
ive just finished rebuilding my old a12 and it appears i have no oil pressure.
before i put the motor together i striped down the oil pump and made sure it was in good condition.
do i need to prime it some how ? or will it pick up the oil if i start the engine?
ps. i did fill the oil pump prior to instal .

yes you should prime the pump, did you fill the pump when you installed or just the filter?

you should tip some oil in the openings of the oil pump (pump removed from motor) and turn the drive until it starts pumping fluid

you should be easily able to pull it off the motor and do this even after it is all installed in the car

it will run out, but the key part is turning the pump over when you have it filled (held sideways), this way the oil gravity feeds into the actual pump section. once some oil is in there and the air has been forced out it is primed and should work fine.

If you have done this then i would make sure you haven't left the pick-up pipe out or something silly.
