You will need the largest of the Hilux diffs. The smaller Hilux won't be strong enough I think.

Sounds good. Hilux diffs have many readily available new or used ratios, and relatively inexpensive LSD units. The Nissan H233 (9.2") has less expensive LSD, but not as wide a selection of ratios.

Did you want information on building/rebuilding it, or just on the shortening? Or something like how to add disc brakes?

* Shorten the axle tubes and weld them
* Get new custom-length axles ($800/pair)
* Drill the axles for the desired wheel bolt pattern
* new bearings for the new axles
* Cut and reweld (or add) spring plates

U will need a set of calipers brackets to suit r31 brakes with hilux ends and axles and a set of r31 rotors drilled to ford 5 stud. The best rotors to source are ibs brand as the do not have cut out on the front that states the rotor rhickness otherwise one of ur atuds will be drilled through the thinner part of the rotor. I have caliper mount and spacer in stock.
