1972 DATSUN 1200 Coupe
Asking Price: $2500 or Trade Make: Datsun Model: 1200 2-door Coupe (B110 Series / JDM: Sunny) Year: 1972 Color: Green re-spray (12+ years old) Drive-train: Rebuilt Factory A12, 1.2 liter, upgraded electronic ignition w/ 5000+ miles (recent tune-up) and recent clutch on late model 5-Speed The Good: Great little car, runs and starts every time and still gets 30+ miles to the gallon in town. The heater works, the wipers work and all lights work. The body has almost zero rust and no major dents or damage the paint is in fair shape with minor scuffs here and there but nothing to distract for the cars beauty. This 1200 was home restored about 12 years ago by the previous owner, the interior now has aftermarket seats and needs a good going over but have been quoted $400-700 to have it completely redone. The dash has some cracks but that is to be expected with the age, there is and aftermarket CD player installed along with an aftermarket tachometer. Solid suspension with updated shocks and a live rear axle. The car started life as an automatic but now has a A-Series 5-Speed conversion and since it was an automatic it has a wider transmission tunnel that I believe (Google time!) can accommodate either the CA18ET, FJ20ET, SR20DET, KA24DE and the VG30DET if one were to have such goals. The car is currently registered, insured and can be driven away by the right driver.
The Bad: This care only really needs some TLC and it could use a new gasket kit (which I believe that I have) and a valve adjustment other then that the engine runs fine, the hydraulics and cooling system could be flushed for better performance. It could use a new paint job and the windshield is cracked BUT a factory replacement is included ($400+ on eBay), the interior needs a make over and there is an odd short in the dash that a multimeter and a bit of patience can fix. The car has the original 12" wheels that need new rubber (one is flat so a 13" wheel is currently in its place). There are some other minor quirks but they came factory installed from Nissan and are what make a Datsun a Datsun.
The Ugly: I have a shed full of extra parts and they all MUST go with the car!! These parts include an A14 (1.4), many 4-Speeds, the factory automatic and peddle box, several rear differentials and gear sets, body parts and panels, several boxes of 1200 parts some are NOS, extra glass, interior parts and much more, so a trailer (with cover) or full body truck with shell will be required to pick-up the parts.
The Barter System!: I would be willing to accept trades of a good running (w/current emissions test) late model (90's+) BMW E30, E34 or E36 4-Door (manual transmissions only need apply) or would also consider trades for other interesting older (also running) BMW's, Toyota's Datsun cars (510, 610, 710 or 810) or Datsun Truck (620, 720 King-Cabs), late model Four-Runner's or Pathfinders. Or if you are an old school import car/scooter/motorcycle fan and happen to have something of an unique nature that another import car/scooter/motorcycle fan aficionado would possibly be into and are willing to offer up a trade drop me an email!
The Fine Print: Serious Inquiries only! -
I will only respond to the Craigslist emails, so please provide your name, email and phone number. I'm under no pressure to sell as I simply just lost interest in this car. I know what it the car is and its actual worth, so honest cash offers will be considered. I will show the car by appointment only (weekday evenings) No joy rides, so cash in hand to test drive (and drivers license).
DRIVE HAPPY!!!
