Does anyone happen to have the dime quarterly 200sx efi article I have access to a stock manifold but was wondering what 200sx bits need to be swapped out to make it all work;

The 200SX bits are not needed.

All the B310 parts will work with the 200SX EFI -- the ECU is a very good one, self-tuning and works with a variety of engines. This is from 1980-1983 Datsun S110.

Quote:
It would be best to use the wiring and sensors from an A14E or A15E engine ... [or] you can use the 200SX parts.

An air filter/air cleaner is not required, but is a good idea to keep dust out of the engine.

There is a Air Temperature Sensor that attaches to the Airflow Meter.

Sorry I'm just trying to work out what I'd need to buy from the 200sx apart from the ECU and loom as the tech wiki isn't that clear with that quoted text: "It would be best to use the wiring and sensors from an A14E or A15E engine ... [or] you can use the 200SX parts."

The article also says: "The 200SX parts can be used with some bracket-mounting modifications for the A-series factory EFI manifold." I'm trying to determine what the "200SX parts" specifically are?

So if you have the stock manifold you need:
1. 200sx wiring loom
2. 200sx ecu
3. 200sx dropping resistor
4. 200sx air flow meter? does this just sit in the engine bay and determine air flow through the bay? you do you connect it to the throttle body?

4. 200sx IAS unit? (what does that even do)
5. 200sx air regulator?

Thanks again for your help. Sorry I just wasn't sure

You need all the parts in the 200SX EFI article. There are a LOT of parts (as with any EFI system). This includes the pressure fuel pump & filter.

You can use either the S110 parts or the B310 parts, or a mixture. Many of the parts are available on the 280ZX such as injectors, sensors and fuel pump. Also see the EGI article for more details on specific parts.

The original 200SX article by Kevin was even less specific.

Thanks David most appreciated. Will look at hunting them down.

So basically you get all the 200sx parts and all you use is the a series manifold? and you bolt the 200sx parts on to the manifold and around the place and wire up the ecu?

The two EFI manifolds I bought came with injectors, fuel rail & pressure regulator, injector wiring, throttle body, IAC, etc. Whatever it doesn't have, you can use alternate parts. For example, Throttle Switch from S110 or injectors from 280Z/280ZX.

Wiring is simple -- if you get the entire wiring (from ECU to engine), locate the seven important wires, and connect those up to the rest of the Datsun (IGN, START, POWER, EARTH, TACH (coil neg), relay out) -- see the Chart in the [[200SX EFI] article.

When you buy an ECU it is critical to get at least a bit of the ECU wiring connector with a few inches of the wiring, since it is a special connector. If you only got a bit of the wiring you will need to locate the sensor wires and wire those up (including Injectors, Temp, IAC, TPS, MAP, air temp, Airflow Meter). If you get the entire harness it will already have these figured out.

Thanks very much that makes a lot of sense so if starting from a stock manifold you can use just the ecu and some substitute bits for those you're missing.

Thanks for taking the time. I'll let you know how I go.

There is a link to the Dime Quarterly article ("Bye-Bye-Carbs - Adding Fuel Injection to an L-series motor") at the bottom of 200SX EFI.

So the units in the 200SX article are from the Z20E 200SX?

What about using the GA16 or E15E systems common in wrecking yards in Australia? I'm quite sure the E15E was of a similar era to the Z20E?

Thomen, I'd be inclined to take a stroll in the Nissan section of your local pick-a-part and see what goodies you come across.
