Yeah i was thinking the same thing unfamilia about T peice orientation being wrong. I will certainly try that when i get home. I couldnt find any leak along the filler but tbh i didnt concentrate on this area.
Ive also upgraded the pic to a larger one. Thanks Dave.

Much better pic. I see a nice Holley fuel pump.
The red line is not connected to anything?
I would disconnect the return line, and tie 4 & 5 together as stock. The carburetor doesn't need the return line, although if the fuel pressure is more than 5 psi it will be a problem (carburetors like less than 3.5 psi).
Is the backflow valve still in place?

This is the early Coupe fuel tank in Japan - it doesn't use a check valve.

Thanks so much dave. This diagram is exactly what i needed. I didnt realise the breather they tapped into fed across to the other side of the tank. Im also thinking that based on the diagram they have tapped the wrong hose and should have tapped into the breather closer to the front of the tank which is the red hose in my pic. I might try this tonight.
The fuel pump is too strong to not have a return line as even on the lowest setting it just floods the bowl. So my next step if the above does not work is to find a lower pressure pump and then just get rid of the return line all together.

Ok so i havent found the fuel leak but i have found what is causing the fuel leak. Too much flow through the return line. I connected 3 and 4 through the straight angle of the T and 5 onto the 90 degree angle as unfamilia suggested. Turned on the fuel pump and left running by itself for a few minutes. No leak. Turned the engine on and it was running way too rich for a few minutes. Checked again and there was a tiny little leak but nothing like it was. So i turned the fuel pressure down as low as it would possibly go and turned the engine over again. Ran a lot better at first but slowly became richer as i am guessing the excess fuel slowly built up pressure as it couldn't return properly. Checked the leak and it was a tiny little seep, not even close to dripping though.
So next step is to get new low pressure and low flow pump this weekend, do away with any return line and just put breathers back to standard.

I'm no expert, learnt the hard ways and asking questions too. congrats. Those little facet pumps 4 psi ones
