Hi All,

Wondering if anyone would know if 18x7.5 rims would fit on a Datsun 1200 without any modifications such as flaring the guards?

Or if anyone has any experience with this?

:)

I have been investergating this for a while now and a 17"x? will fit.Theres a few dattos utes in the car mag called zoom with 165/45/17's and 205/40/17 on them.Ill be going with 15's to get it on the road then will be putting 17's on the front 19's on the rear.A 135/80/15 is the same overall diameter as a 165/45/17

anything bigger than 15-16" looks ridiculous, don't quote me but I tink 16" will touch from guard while turning, lads just trim off the front edge....find a wheel that compliment your ride ....just opinion

So do 13" with stetched tyres, but hey if we were all the same it would be a pretty boring world.

Wasnt gonna say anything and after all is said its you ride you do what you want. The hassle you will go through to run 18's like dollars time and overcoming hurdles not to mention the fact you will just become a police magnet could be better spent in other areas of the project. 15's is the most i have and will ever go on a 1200. The day i run 18's will be when i get a skyline or S15 or some new age thing. Just my opinion but i aint the guru.

A 205 section tyre will fit the rear of a 1200. Doesn't matter if it's 205/50R13 or 205/40R18. If the wheel offset is around +30 it will fit. Any 205 section tyre is approximately the same width.

7.5" width rims will stick out past the bodywork. But if you fit a small enough diameter tyre it will work. I have a friend who ran 9 x 13" rims on a 1200. The tyres stuck way out the side of the car, but he drove it like that.

The way I'd go is 6 x 18" +30 rim with 205/40R18 tyre for the rear. On the front maybe 6 x 17" + 5 rim with 195/40R17 tyre along with a pulled guard and shaved foot well.

But NCOP won't allow that, because the tyre manufacturer doesn't recommend "stretched" tyres nor a rim narrower than 6.5". Maybe a 6.5 rim will work in the rear, but I don't think it will fit the front without sticking out.
