Would like to hear how you go with the initial run ... About to setup twin 40s on my crazy A14 and am looking for an initial setup myself :)

yeah happy to share info, mine will probably take a month before they are on, so if your dellortos get sorted faster than that, let me know how ya go.

I made up piston stop by welding a piece of 10mm rod onto a spark plug and set the engine up to get into some measuring...

heres what I worked out..

Intake:
Open-90 degrees ATDC
Fully open-165 BTDC
Closed-50 BTDC
Duration 220

Exhaust:
Open- 130 BTDC
Fully open- 30 BTDC
Closed- 90 ATDC
Duration 220

It sounds to me like stage 3 from auckland cams??
http://www.aucklandcams.co.nz/cam_lis ... NISSAN%20DATSUN%20A12-A15

Can anyone tell me what to expect with driveability from this cam shape?
And how this may effect the jetting for the twin D's

I have photos if anyone is interested ill pop em up.
cheers

Stage 3 sounds like the GX cam. Not a long duration (so it doesn't mess with a/f mixture), but enough to need slightly uprated springs.

What is the maximum valve lift on your cam?

Stock A12 cam is 248 degrees. So it all depends on how it is measured. Did you measure at 0.050 inch lift? With valve adjusted to zero lash (or with standard clearance)?

The open/close readings are like this, very different from your measurements:

I went over my measurements twice but may have got something wrong.

since it seems close to this the 220 duration and with lob centre angle at 110 degrees would this change the jets I should use in the twin D's or would the jetc etc mentioned above stay the same?

Undoubtedly the jets will need to be changed when finally tuned.

The jets listed above will work for a start.
