I've extended the wires to the alternator ... The engine is from a 78 b210 gx.
The factory alternator on a 1978 North American B210 is wired differently from the early 1200. It just needs a few wiring changes

1978 B210 should be a Hitachi LR-150 alternator. ID is it has L-S terminals on the back, and the car has no voltage regulator

B110 is wired for F-N type alternators. To use the L-S type in a 1970-1973 Datsun 1200:
1. Remove the voltage regulator and discard it
2. In the wiring harness connector for the regulator, jump WB wire to WR wire
3. Jump Y wire to W wire
That's it

Ok I have everything hooked up and now I have a short someplace. I never had any problems prior to the swap. None of my lights will come on. Brake lights work and front passenger side marker light. The rest of the lights won't turn on. My oil and brake light stay on even when the ignition is turned off. I put a fuseable link between the battery cable and the hot wire the powers the interior and it keeps blowing the fuse. Any idea's???

I'd remove that. All Datsun 1200s already come with the correct size Fusible Link on the main power wire

Check the fuse box, and test each fuse for voltage when you turn the KEY ON, ENGINE OFF. A fuse may have blown even though it still looks good

Brake (stop) lights are on a different fuse than the others (tail, front, side, dome lamp, etc)

The most common reason for Brake lights to be stuck on are the switch button cracked, on the brake pedal

Make sure the D wire is unconnected, and pull the ? wire off whatever it is connected to, to see if the oil light goes out. Also pull the wire off the oil pump to see if that makes a difference

All of my lights work now besides the headlights and the marker lights on each front fender. One of my problems was I had the two black wires that I had to extend for the alternator obviously in the wrong place. I was getting a consistent sorce of plower to my ignition. I took the wire off and all of my lights came on besides what I stated above. Where does the black wire go on the alternator? I apologize for all of the stupid questions. This is my first swap into a JDM car and I'm not a fan of wiring.

The wiring is very good on the 1200, logical and neatly wrapped. But after 40 years any car can have wiring problems or maybe a previous owner messed it up?

The alternator has four wires
* BAT/ALT (thick WR wire)
* Ground (black wire)
* Tee-connector (two wires)

The alternator has one or two screw holes labeled "E" (Earth) and that's where the black ground wire goes

Right on thank you. Your help is highly appreciated. Everything worked fine prior to the swap. All of my electric system was perfect. So I'm just not sure why the front lights don't have power. My turn signals light up and work on the front. Just no marker lights and headlights.

So all the other problems are fixed now?
* Oil light now goes off when engine stops
* Brake lights now go off
* Fuse no longer blows out

The headlights have their own fuse, the 'H' fuse of the Fuse Box, so I would check that now. With switch pulled all the way out, does the fuse have 12V on both ends of the fuse?

Which lights do you mean by "marker" lights? Datsun calls the side reflectors that, but others call the front and rear running lights "markers", depending on which region of the country you are in ...

Ok so I got all of the lights to come on. Everything was ok until I put the belt on and powered the alternator. Now that the alternator is hooked up my ignition has a consistent source of power even when the ignition is turned off. It has a obvious miss fire and my tach is going crazy. Any idea's???
