I still have the voltage regulator hooked up. Could that be a problem?

The 1978 USA B210 alternator has a built-in regulator. So if you use it in an older car - say a 1972 B110 or a 1977 B210 - which has an external regulator it doesn't work correctly. Apparently it won't cause permanent damage
The solution is to unplug the regulator (and leave it disconnected) then cross two wires so it will charge correctly

What wires do I cross to make it charge correctly?

Ok I spliced the wires from the voltage regulator. It seems better but I still have a miss fire. I noticed when I hook up the battery there is a clicking sound even when the ignition is off. It bolts right next to the horn on the driver side. It has four wires going into it. It has red, yellow, black and blue wires. It seems to get warm when the battery is hooked up.

Disconnect it, I think that's not a stock 1200 part
