Dave why are you wanting to use coupe shocks? Will they fit your sedan? I have konis in my coupe that came with the jts leaf springs. I think they were originally for a Gemini or something. Can get the part number off them tomorrow if that helps. Who did you get a price from for rebuilding the bilsteins? What konis are you running in the front?

Hi Morgan,
I got the coupe shock idea off the Tech Wiki;
Coupe shocks are the go for your lowered sedan -- they are stiffer and shorter AND with a longer stroke (not recommended for stock-height sedan as they don't extend as far). The issue is the small bush hole, which can be drill out to the 12 mm sedan size. Be sure to move the bump stops from your old sedan shocks to the new shocks.

Would very much appreciate the part numbers off your Konis
The price that I was quoted was from Autolign - $200+ GST per shock for basic rebuild, $300+ if it needs a new shaft - typical bloody NZ prices....( can buy a brand new Gr2 Bilstein for $300+ from Palmside )
Konis on the front are MR2 rears I believe.
Cheers
Dave

The konis in my car are 80-2275. Gemini front from memory.
They are quite short. I'm thinking of putting some bilsteins in my car but will run the konis first to give a basis for comparison.

Thanks Morgan and DD.
After checking the part numbers on my 22 year old Bilsteins while I was always of the impression that they were Group 2 Escort it appears that they are actually RS2000 ones.
After looking at the Demon Tweaks website in the UK they have adjustable Koni Sports for the RS2000 at very reasonable money so given thats what I have in the front I have decided to go that way and order some.
However after doing this a chap here in Christchurch has suggested going the single leaf spring and coil over shock way in the rear which would be a great idea and something that I may well explore next year.
Fingers crossed the Konis fit!
Cheers
Dave

Bilstein shocks for Ford RS2000 -- which Part No. are they? RS2000 is an Escort with 2 liter engine, there were RS2000 versions of the Mk1, MkII all the way through Mk5

If they fit a 1200 sedan, the Part Number will be helpful for others looking

DD,
I pulled a wheel off and unfortunately there are no casting identifications on the mag itself and being 25 or so years old I can't remember who made them or what brand so sorry about that- they will have to remain a mystery unless so one can shed some light on them.
The car is a genuine SSS, not a replica as Neil Stuart built.
The Konis are for a Mk2 RS2000- part no. KON80-2284S ( thats off the Demon Tweaks website )
The Bilsteins that there are replacing were F4-B46-0872-H000 ( and I would definitely recommend these to anyone )
Cheers
Dave
