yeah that's the only limitation. A10 will rev higher than 6000 but not as robust

Same issues as an A12. For example, if you let the engine ping it will destroy itself after a while

Nah just use the A10 head. Same size round ports. If you want high-RPM power port the head. However the inlet and exhaust manifolds are slightly bigger with the A12

So im wondering what sort of power to expect from a stock a10 supercharged engine with just headers. Would anyone be able to give me a hp figure?

With an AMR500 blower maybe instead of the stock 56HP it'd get 70HP?

I suppose I didn't write that correctly. Using 5 mains will make it more reliable to rev thus gaining a bit more power?


What I'm trying to do is gain the most power for street either using a naturally aspirated a12 or I can go a forced induction a10 legally. Im not allowed an a14 or a15. I was thinking a mix of standard a10 bottom end with head studs,stock h75 or h89 head (depending what I can get hold of) with decent rated double valve springs and as much boost as I can reliably go. Was going to look at efi aswel and aftermarket computer. I know the 12s do very well, I'm just worried about the a10 bottom end if doing up to 8000rpm. Being that it's street and not revving for a long time, do u think the a10 bottom end with good bearings be ok doing that kind of boosted rpm on street?

I guess that's what I have to weigh up. What's going to be faster, a bored out worked a12 or a boosted a10? I'm guessing to get over 100hp from a worked a12 will require an a12 bored, stroked, ported head, high comp pistons and worked cam along with a pair of webers or efi. I'm thinking an a10 with almost stock oval port head (just valve springs done), head studs, super/turbocharger and efi might be a more easier cost effective option? If they can get 100kw from an a12 carby turbo, would it be reasonable to think with a little more work (or boost) that I can get the same from an a10? Would like to know people's thoughts who have much more experience then I do with the a series

No. No power is added. 3-main cranks are reliable. 5-main are there to reduce harmonic vibrations at higher RPM. That being said, the A10 can reliably rev higher than the stock 5600 rpm


A10 with boost will best a high-rev A12

No need to upgrade head
No need to rev high

Just add boost. Keep the chamber cool, do not overheat. Avoid pinking and it'll be fine (reduced mechanical spark advance + rich mixture at all times)

Remember that a 90hp boosted engine will accelerate a car quicker than a 100hp naturally aspirated one

BOOSTED
* 90hp at 5600 rpm, 90hp at 3000 rpm
N/A
* 100hp at 7000 rpm, 40hp at 3000 rpm

This low-RPM horsepower is why the 2021 turbo vehicles are so quick. Just beware -- without careful spark and fuel control the engine will detonate. It'll work with a carburetor, but you may have to over-richen it to ensure it never goes lean
