E100 gets 50% LESS fuel economy than gasoline

But consider this:
E10 to E20. Also raise compression to 12:1. Now you get slightly greater fuel efficiency and equal power. Further the more you raise either, the more power you get. It's why the new supercharged engines make so much power on E85

Ok, so E85 makes more power if you have 12:1 compression or better

But can you do that with an A-series engine?

1. Replace stock dished or flat-top pistons with dome-top pistons. About $400 to $700 USD/set of four. See Suppliers

2. Re-jet carburetor for E85. Much bigger jets are needed

3. Replace old rubber fuel parts with alcohol-compatible parts (fuel hoses, fuel pump diaphragm, etc)

As with any compression change the spark curve needs additional modding to get the most power at all RPMs. Although you could simply I rotate the distributor to find the best full-throttle power at average RPMs
