Need help to remove a pin dowel from selector shaft 56A box

Would anyone have any tips/tricks to remove the pin dowel (hope this is the correct term) form the selector shaft in the rear extension housing? Happy to pay someone in Melbourne if you have a special tool to minimise damage. Thanks

Wow is that a 5-speed? It doesn't look like the usual 56A 4-speed


I believe you can use a punch to lightly tap the pin back out. Not much room in the extension housing though. Is it stuck tight?

Hi, thanks for the reply. Yes it’s a close ratio 5 speed, I tried tapping the pin with a hammer and got quite a good impact on it despite the lack of space, but it seems well stuck. I will try and clamp down on it with vice grips and apply heat on the weekend, and see what happens.
