Came across this on YouTube the other day and found it somewhat entertaining and very optimistic 😀.
I suppose a project always sounds easier when you’re going to hand it over to someone else to complete. (Sorry not a 1200…but still a Datsun and a Coupe).

It's been done, do a search for the Masling Stanza used in the Australian Rally Championship in the mid 1980's..

The car is currently being restored. In Bendigo I think

Everything has had a chev or ford v8 on a different make
put in it but this a first Stanza coupe with Nissan VK45.

The kid has been raised by women, educated by woke media tv
and self force stuffing himself with processed foods.

He is unrealistic in thinking in 1 week he will have a
finished car and showing it off at meets but I like that
he found this workshop which is insanely proficient yet
super dangerous giving no care to basic safety procedures.

It is normal in those parts they love a gamble!

I've always wanted a rover-buick V8. The lightest, most affordable aluminum V8, also used in the first mass produced turbo car. The original buick 3.5 versions are now hard to find, but the latest rover versions are still common even in 5.0 liters. There's one for sale on eBay USA now for $2000 and sometimes can be found at Pick-n-Pull in a Range Rover or Land Rover for $195

They are light but if you remove the mechanical waterpump setup
you save over 16lbs and replace with electric waterpump.
When using electromotive distributorless ignition and relocated
alternator there are even more savings as done in 80s speedway.

I prefer the 332lbs Maserati Quattroporte F136/M139 400hp from
factory and cheap @ 2.5k usd for 90k from ebay atm

wow, a ferrari V8 for $2,500?

* is it reliable
* will they fit in a 1200

The Buick/Rover V8 should fit as the Buick V6 has been swapped in many time. If you leave the twin turbos off the extra length of the V8 should be no problem

3800

Yep its the detuned version quite reliable but needs 5k km oil changes
not the bogus commonly adopted 10k km even by Ferrari.
The Feza version needs refresh every 50k km, main bearings and oil pump
which is normal for a race tuned NA engine making 500hp.

The VQ is lighter than the Buick v6 and makes more for less but I do
like the OHV buicks but Rover v8 needs $$$ to match modern turbo L4s.

VQ is a big thing though & at 175kg is similar to turbo SR20det weight

For sound the Maseratti M139 with non flat plane crank is insane
but fitting a datsun is a challenge for sure except in the back of
a ute where the rear diff/transaxle can also share the bed.
