What’s with the huge price increases in Datsun/Nissan parts?

I went to buy a genuine accelerator cable (18200-G1200) for my 1200 Ute through my normal supplier.
The price they had listed was $36.00Au which I thought was reasonable. After accepting the order they came back a few days later and say there has been a price increase and they now want $159.00AU. That’s a 450% price increase for a pretty basic part!

I then look on eBay and see an ad for this ‘ NISSAN DATSUN 1200 Heater Water Control ValveGenuine JDM OEM 27017-B8520H’ for $1331.57.

The more I look up parts the more I find that have gone up extraordinarily. I thought prices had peaked over COVID times. I know inflation is bad and all that, but how can they justify a 450% price increase?

It’s getting more expensive to maintain my Datsun than my American classic, who would have thought that would happen.

Yeah, it's maddening

Post a price, then don't honor it ... they know some people will pay more. Isn't it against the consumer protection law?

I said 10 years ago prices would go boom
many smirked its a pov brand impossible.

The plannedermic jabfest made prices worse
as many are still restoring and hording as
inflation keeps taking value off printed
cash as it is not money, just debt notes
with no value vs old well made things.

btw use jauce.com or the many other services avail
and get that part for cheaper than those
rip off mercharts re-quote ya.

Here it is for 3800yen about 38aud

Parts like that can be remade as well
by place like highway brake and clutch in campbellfield
they made all my custom clutches, relined brake shoes, pads,
sleeved my master and slave cylinders and more.
I had my serviceable benz parts all recoed there for years
for a fraction of new from OEM which is all still made.
