Hi,

I've got a Datsun 1200 ute with a rocker type switch for the wipers. It's works fine but if I switch the wipers off when the wipers are in the normal position, it blows the fuse. If I switch the wipers off when the wipers are vertical it doesn't blow the fuse. So I have to time the wipers when it's vertical then switch it off.
I've uploaded the switch I have.

I suspect the problem is with wiring of the OFF position

With the rocker in the off position, there should be two terminals that are connected together. Get out your test light, or ohmmeter and check for continuity. These terminals should be connected to the wiring harness Blue wire and Yellow wire

The factory wiper switch does not have a 12V wire. It only serves to connect various circuits to earth ground

The wiper motor is wired directly IGN HOT 12V, but there is an electrical connection inside the wiper motor, so when it is in the parking position, it shuts off. If the wiper switch is turned to OFF, the wiper motor continues running until it reaches the parking position

When the wiper switch is ON, it connects the Blue or Blue/White wire to the Black wire (earth ground). This turns the motor, regardless of the position of the wiper blades. With the standard switch, a LO-1 or HI-2 pull of the knob results in continuous running

So, the marine rocker switch ON should connect Earth to WASHER. And the WASHER terminal should be connected to the wiring harness connector blue/white wire (or blue wire, depending on which of the two speeds you want)

If I was you I would try and get a second hand factory wiper switch from Datsun Parts Shop, shoot Chris an email and he should be able to help you out. He is based just north of Brisbane so postage shouldn't take too long, even though Auspost continues to surprise me with their postage duration

If the factory wiring has been hacked to suit the rocker, you should be able to get away with using a 6 Pin QK Connector to suit the factory connector and use this wiring diagram to make it all work like factory again
