I get the impression that the emissions systems somewhat uder-perform compared to the typical, more-favourable GX induction.

Is this correct.

If the E systems have been disabled/removed would you expect better performance?

I have an A14T setup. It is infact the setup you pictured in your post Brent.

To me it appears the shafts for the Electric choke have been sealed. I think this setup has had the emissions stuff muddled with.

Does anyone have a model-specific manual for these?

I thought they'd be a good upgrade.

Oh and well done on producing the tech article Brent (& pepper) that's the sort of thing everyone likes to see.

yes id say you'd be able to disable the emissions but id say it'd be easierand probably better to adapt non emissions
and pepper you corrected me

Even without the emission controls, the A14T manifold has much smaller ports. So for high-RPM fun, the A12GX or A12T is "more peak HP".

For street driving, the A14T might better, more HP lower down in the RPM range.

Thanks so much for putting this up D1KW! I am new to SU's (inc the Hitachi variety) and was wondering what those pins with springs were, sticking out underneath, now I know what they do!

Every SU tuning reference I've read so far tells you to 'use your fingernail to lift the piston slightly'- whereas you've just shown me I can do it from the outside on the Hitachis - which means I can check the mixtures with the air cleaner on Top stuff.

I'm having issues with the float bowl overflowing on Hitachi sidedraught carburetor. Can anyone tell me what is causing this and a way to fix this issue. Cheers

The level of fuel in the bowl is controlled by the float

Causes of fuel overflow:
* Fuel pressure too high (maximum of 3.0 psi)
* float incorrectly adjusted
* defective or worn inlet valve

The fuel inlet valve is the same part number as the A12 standard downdraught single carburetor
