Hi,
I'm looknig for a good source on the web that explains working with the electrical system on my Datsun. I'm doing some modifications (adding an electrical fuel pump, tach, volt gauge, rear defroster, larger alternator, etc) and I want to know how to add these things without totally screwing up my wiring!

Wiring is specific to the year, model, country and state of your Datsun. So which Datsun do you have? From your alias (e10) I would guess you have a front-wheel-drive Datsun F10?

It might help to look at wiring diagrams for later Datsuns to see how those parts are hooked up. Some part use relays, fuses, fusible links or whatever, or run off of either battery voltage or regulated voltage.

If you like I've got the diagrams for my '79 210 which has many of those components. Here's one pic that I posted this morning in another thread:
Small one

Large one

This is only the first page but I can photograph the others if it'll help. Let me know.

Most of the stuff that your'e talking about fitting should come with fairly comprehensive fitting/ wiring instructions. As for the alternator, are you replacing an externally regulated unit with an internally regulated unit? This is a simple job for any competent auto- electrician or mechanic, and either of those guys should be able to point you in the right direction withiout any hassles. Just be polite and be sure to ask for advice nicely!
