Welcome to the club Rob.
To find lots, and I mean lots of posts and info on changing /upgrading your current setup in the front end simply:
Go to the left of your screen to the search option. Type in front suspension or Stanza Struts or some sort of similar wording. You should find all you need.

I think someone (correct me if Im wrong) is going to make a step by step guide for doing a front suspension and brake upgrade. If not, theres a challenge for someone who has done the conversion successfully already!

Cheers, Simon

The simplest front suspension upgrade I have found is the stuff from a 210. Ive done it more than once and it all pretty much bolts right in. Get everything; struts, ball joints, lower arms, steering links (unscrew the link between the inner and outer ball joints on each side of the car), T/C rods, and whatever else I forgot. Basically, three nuts on top, one on the T/C rod, one nut and bolt on the crossmember, the steering link, and the brake line and she all falls in your lap. You need to use the 1200 upper mount and cut the springs to get the ride height back down to an acceptable level.
I have also done a 510 (1980 HL-510, not an early '70s real 510) strut swap but it was a lot more work, if I remember correctly. Of course, what we in the states got as an HL-510 was called a Stanza elsewhere in the world, and the Stanza swap is pretty popular. You need to look at the geometry of the parts I guess.
Either way you go will net you bigger struts, not to mention ones that you can actually find at the parts store, and slightly larger brakes. You'll need to ditch the 12" wheels, as if I needed to tell you that.

I used c210 skyline struts cause there shorter than the stanza struts but had to modify the spring cup. Theres a whole range of calipers to fit these struts but i went all the way and used landcruiser 4 spots with 10" vented disc's.
