Hi All, Well I finally got my '80 1200 ute. I did the usal thing for me and started playing with everthing, plugs clean carb etc etc. It didnt have an disposible inline fuel filter on it and I had one sitting around but I couldent get fuel to the carb. I could get the line and filter primed with fuel but when I put the line back onto the fuel pump and turned the enigine over I had no fuel at the carb. I turned it over on and off for agers and no good. Then after a while I put the old line on and hade np probs.

Does all this mean that my fuel pump may be stuffed or could it be the old filter , any ideas would be great thanks.

I dont like the idea of not having a filter with all the crap fuel getting around.

Regards & Thanks

Well, I am a little confused, but I'll take a stab at it. Put a pressure gauge on the fuel pump outlet and check pressure while cranking. Should be around 30 psi. If you got pressure, the problem is in the line or filter. Try blowing through the line. Should be pretty easy to blow through. If it was me...I'd would just replace everything so you don't have to worry about it down the road. but that's just me. Hope this helps.

Thanks roughneck, I did blow the fuel line out from the Pump inlet side back to the Tank. I can get fuel into filter and past it to the line on the other side , but when I put the line back onto the fuel pump I get nothing. I didnt have much fuel in the ute at the time and the filter might be blocked a little so I will get another filter and see how I go with 3/4 of a tank, then I will try a gauge if I can find one.

Now that Ive had time to think about it maybe I didnt get enough air out of the line before putting the line onto the pump inlet ??

Well I got it fixed. The new filter on and running fine. I had to play (bend) with the fuel line a little to get it right and let it bleed fuel through the line for a fair while before I put it back on to the pump etc. It started first time and no prob's on test drive. Thanks all the the help.
