As my under loved wagon has been left in the sun for long periods of time and no TLC, the paint has slowly faded away to washy red/whit colour...
Now what would be the best way to restore this? I have trieed cut & polishing it and that worked well but is there a secret product/trick i should know about to doing this?

I cant do a respray as i dont have the $$ or time...So any help and info on what the best way and products to use would be great!!

Cheers
Dave

If you're nervous about usning the sandpaper try a "rougher" grade of cutting compound first. Then step up to the finer cutting compound followed by your favourite wax.

I don't recommend anything that claims to do two things at once. Ie wash and wax, or cut and polish. I think it's crap. You're better off buying the stuff that does one job properly. Once you are where you want to be with the paint shine, if you can keep applying the wax you won't need to continually cut it.

Backfire is right. use the correct polish for the good you are doing.
dont forget the piant on the car will be thin so dont rub too hard.
you might even try useing a colour based polish after you have cut and before a plain polish.
good luck

yeah i was thinking just buying a good quality 'cutting' compund and not going into the combined things...I do own lots of 2000grit paper (guitar body work) so that aint a problem. If i do use the paper there isnt any prep needed, just jump right into sanding it back?

And ive got to patch a few areas up with paint (rust areas mainly so ill have to blend the colour in a bit)....any ideas?

Cheers
Dave
