Took my ute to Eastern Creek on 15th June street meet for a bit of fun, and to see what sort of times a S/C a12 would do.
First run 17.6@84mph! Too much wheel spin and the open centre didn`t help.
Second run I deflated the rear tyres to 20psi and did 16.1@85mph! Little better but it was coughing and farting in 3rd gear!
Third run it did 16.4@83.5mph! Something wasn`t right. Wnen I got home, pulled the plugs out to find missing bits that must`ve burned off ! Way too lean!!!!
It`s all sorted now so I`ll take it back for another go soon. Hopefully break into 15`s!

got hold of specs today, a fresh engine should be at 171psi min allowable is 128psi and no more than 10 psi differance between any cylinders, also still getting oil in the cooling system even with new head gasket so block or head must be cracked? Might try get another engine and freshin that up.

I cant believe the times you guys are getting, to think i was happy with a 16.7 lol it could go much better.

I was thinking about a cheap build plan and came up with the following, what do you guys think for a mild setup?

Fresh l20b with l18 head, ports opened and cleaned up like my other head, maybe a bit more compression no more than 10:1, 74 or 76 cam like jims car, twin sus and extractors (that will probably have to be custom built, anyone no of any bolt in jobbies for l series into 1200, from what car?)

Would i be unrealistic hoping for high 14s with this and a well setup car? If more flow in the intake will help i could make up custom injection manifold and use a map sensored delco from camira and get it retuned.

Jim i was wondering with that 76 cam you used did you have to change valve springs or any parts in the valve train. When did it start making power, what was your rev limit?

Hey jessie cheers for that bud, was hoping 205s would fit but 195s will do. Pm me about that 1k, what are your plans? Sounds good!

Thanks guys im definatelly motivated now!
