just fishing around on the largest legal sizes on mags for a standard height ute without scrubbing and flaring the gaurds but maybe rolling them?
and what tickles your fancy old style mags or new?

now im being biased but I love my superlites.

Ive got 14"s but they come in 15"s and I think 16"s Ive seen 16"s on a jag (I know why bother) dont know how much bigger they go. My opinion though if you go big go a new style superlites look great small. must say though I wish I had got 15"s but then Ive had heaps of trouble with my 14"s rubbing and its a standard height ute with no mods not even rolled guards.

After visiting Mermaid Suspension though all is good no more rubbing.

Hope this helps

Chris

kegs

glad im not the only one with the scrubbing on the footwell and the guard. I was scratching my head about how you guys did it fit large wheels that it thinking you had no dramas. Not good for you but glad to see Im not the only one with probs.

Any way like i said im all fixed now after a visit to the suspension shop

Chris

15's wont scrub anymore than 14's, when u get bigger wheels u still gotta have same outside diameter so ur speedo is right, just gotta get lower profiles. 195 50's on mine are perfect for speedo, and are one of if not THE cheapest size tyre because they are so common these days.

yes you are right kegs no wheel "SHOULD" be any bigger then anyother in regards to outside diameter, so as to maintain a fairly accurate speedo and in our case our wheels are probably fairly close but you would have to agree some people do weird and wonderful things with wheel sizes and couldnt possible maintain the same outside diameter. think 20" wheels these days on cars that had 15" original fitment

anyway this wouldnt possibly be a drama with a datto.

Cars always look best with period wheels, that is,wheels that were available when that car was new.

Old mags on old cars, new mags on new cars.

15" x 5.5 is about as big as you can go without rolling the guards, the only standard wheel I know of in this configuration is the old bluey TRX rim.
For ages I tried to get my local wheel place to find some aftermarket rims in the same configuration, but they didn't seem to be able to (unless I was spending over 2K). In the end I gave up & went for 14" Skyline steel wheels & painted them...... Less unsprung weight too!

i had 15 x 6.5 with only a little catch on the guards at the front with full lock if suspension fully depressed (and it was only just). got more catching with 14 x 5.5 and 185 60 r14's, have gone to 175 60 r14 and no problems.
It all depends on wheel offset and your car.
6.5 were very wide though on the 1200, made it tramline a bit, some guys are running 13 x 7inch so anyting is possible
