does anyone know the largets rim you can put on the datsun 1200 coupe without doing much alterations to the standard setup?

Also, what size tyre i can put on the rim.

I was thinking 16" but i was told 15: might be my max with a 40 profile tyre.

Also, can you tell me the offset i need for the rim so i know what to look for?

cheers

I've seen 15X6.5
with an offset of 18 to 25

But 13"s are nice too
Check these: they are 185/70 13
13"s won't let it lose that much torque

i have to put rims on greater than 14" cause im going to put on larger calipers on front an back. The kevin rolly ca18 brake setup on the front. He told me to go atleast 14" thats why im thinkin 15"

6.5" sounds reasonable.

ive been told the r31 skyline rims fit.

Does that mean i can use their offset an stud pattern when i go to look for rims at tempe tyres.

if so, is there a huge range.

Hi
I have put quite a bit of research into this topic in the past.
I can tell you that the largest tyres (and I mean mm's of clearance) you can put on a standard (not lowered) 1200 are 195/50 R15 without changing anything (re: guards)....although 185/55 R15's are a better choice in my opinion.
If you are prepared to alter the guards (cut a larger front section) then the sky is the limit to an extent, but still the largest rolling diameter you can go is about 195/50 R15.

As for wheels, without changing guards (except for lipping) I have 16x6.5 with a 40mm offset (silvia wheels or R32 skyline stock rims fit this). These wheels are the limit, I have 195/45 R16 on it and they sit within the guard and don't rub anything....but the front of the guard has been altered.

With these dimensions you should be able to work backwards and find what works for you. I would stick to 15's and get some stock silvia wheels in a 6inch width....cheap, fit and easy to find!

Good luck.
