sounds like a scam to me... $220??

its a cable that is driven by a gear... its not rocket science

surely changing the number of teeth as required on the gear will adjust the speedo reading to within the tolerances??

im gonna look more into it on monday

was just thinking that since the standard 1200 speedo cable matched up to the rx7 gearbox... perhaps a speedo gear from a 1200 may fit into the mazda gearbox?

the gearbox ratio's and wheels sizes may make the speedo read innacurately.. but having the standard 1200 gear should make the speedo a lot more accurate since its for the standard 4.1 diff... and the mazda gear is to suit a 3.7 or thereabouts diff...

only problem is ive sold my old running gear...


so if anyone has a standard 1200 ute speedo gear (must be from 4.1 diff ute) im willing to pick it up or pay postage plus whatever u want for it...

worth a shot i reckon...might not make it 100% acurate but within 5% id be happy.... thoughts??

is there any other factory 4.1 diff cars with the same speedo cable setup??

in my old mini they recalibrated it on the actual speedo guage not the gearbox end... there is just a plastic worm drive on the back of the speedo, if you could workout the gearing on that and modify it you could make it more accurate. Why did nt you just use the sppedo guage from the rx7 as well, must have been better looking than the 1200 one. Would have solved all your problems... maybe just a trip to the wreckers.

speedo from the rx7 wouldnt work accurately... cos the ute has a 4.1 diff ratio in it...

would be like putting 4.11's in the standard rx7... would throw the speedo right out

well did a bit of research....

1200 gear into rx7 gearbox is a no go... different size and the gear must enter the box on oppisite sides as the gear splines are opposite...

found out that there are no interchangable speedo drives for an rx7 so i have to go with the ratio box to correct my speedo..

found a place that'll do it for $120...

so ill see how i go with that....
