My race 1000 is std a1500 bottom end 1200 gx head std shaved 60 thow runing twin 40mm webers with a cold air box lighted fly wheel and fully balanced making 135 engine hp
I think twin webers will flow better than twin su,s
my previous engine was an a14 with flat top pistons about 12.1 comp with same top end and made 145 hp at 8000 rpm the a1500 revs to 7500 rpm

dont know if this works but ill post it in the yahoo group as well

needs a lot of lift but the valves are light and cam grinder seems to think that 8000rpm is no problems at all so see what happens. the problem i will have is that the cam will have to have mild timing figures to keep the SU carbs happy around town as it a daily driver

pics of the head are also there

To answer your question, there is probably nothing wrong with the H145. It was designed for a particular application & it does a really great job, but it's when people abuse it with big rev-up's then dump the clutch, and/or use it behind engines with more torque than it was ever intended to handle that it has problems.
Does that mean that we don't have trouble with the diff, instead, the diff has trouble with us?

Ben,
my a15 makes 132hp at the wheels. I can run your prospective engine configuration thru an engine simultaion program if you would like me to. There is a lot of information required for this process such as head flow figures. If you are willing to spend a couple evening gathering all this info, it will provide quite an accurate estimation of your engine's performance.
Daniel.

So where didyou find yours? Is the 410 bluebird the model with the ali H165? Cause I know where one of those is sitting quietly rusting....

Can anyone confirm model details??

btw qik1000 132hp at the treads is bloody impressive. Who builds your engines?

the head flow figures are below
the motor is an a14 about 2 mm oversize with high tens compression and the usual extractors etc
the biggest drawback is that i am running SU carbs, they out flow the head so why dont they make the power of the webers?

the port balance for the exhaust is around the 86 percent mark

i dont necessarily want an engine sim just an idea of what people hae done and what they achieved

I dont really think the Su's will hinder your performace much. Like you said they flow more than the head. Ive seen dynos of holden sixes running tripple Su's that have been changed for tripple webers and the difference wasnt really worth the cost unless your at a racing level where the little extra helps. Webers helped for a smoother power curve on the dyno. But peak was basically the same.
