What is the easiest and best radiator to replace the standard 1200 ute radiator with?
I want a bigger radiator as the one i have got is tired and doesn't keep it cool enough for the datto to perform at her best.
The motor is a standard factory a12.

re- coring the radiator does wonders for the car. Its cheap and doesnt require you messing around with bolts and mounting brackets...

gemini radiator, 1200 bottom hoses fit, use a 90 model excel top hose (shorten it a bit and it fits perfect), it'll be a bugger to get the hoses over the nozzles on the radiator, but you will get em on, a bit of hot water (from kettle) helps soften em up to get em on

just use 4 bolts to hold it in place, you need some boxed metal or some tube to use as spacers, someone had a picture of this, ill try to find it

Hi Ryno

If you go to my Profile, you will see that I also posted something about my 1200GX running hot on the highway.
There you will also find other response to this question of yours.
To answer your question.
Mine is also not keeping up to the job.
Planely because it is so hot here.
I have'nt changed mine yet but can tell you only what advice the radiator shop gave me.
Get a radiator that has more of those small pipes per inch in the radiator.
The radiator must have more dencely packed fins between the small pipes. These fins absorb the heat away from the water as it sirculates through the small pipes.
To be save get a triple core. This is what I am going to do.
Hope this helps.

take a look at a 1985 VW rabbit or sheracco radiator... i DO know they fit into a 510 soooooo super easy. .. i think it should fit into a 1200... "if i can remember right" ... that particuliar radiator is AWESOME... it is light wieght alluminium, thin, and triple core, and cools like no other... it took my temp down in my car by a ton... "after i did my radiator swap, two of my frinds did it right after." .. oh yeah,, its cheap too... i got mine used for 20 bucks... "just go to a vw mechanic shop.. they might have one laying around......... just check it for any leaks first... '
the fabrication to install is easy... "4 bolts" .. and some new hoses... dean
