According to this repair manual, the A12A is similar to an A14 and A15. It's looks as if the stroke is the main
difference in all three.
A12A (1237cc) 2.95 bore x 2.75 stroke
A14 (1397cc) 2.99 x 3.03
A15 (1488cc) 2.99 x 3.23

The A12A is just a later model A12. It was used from the 120Y/B210 models onward. It differs from the A12 with the engine mount position and the distributor is in the centre of
the block like its bigger versions the A14 and A15. If it has oval intake ports it has a GX cylinder head.

A12A has a different bore (slightly larger, giving 1237cc instead of 1169cc), and lacks the lovely forged crank found in the A12. The A12A crank
is a casting.

Yes this is corrct. The A12a was first introduced in late 79. It has the same deck height as the A12 and slightly larger bore at 75mm or 2.953". Only 1mm smaller than A14/15's
but 2mm larger than the A12/13.

Midget, what makes you say the A12a has a cast crank? I thought ALL A series cranks were forged?

Thanks! Is there oval ports in all A12A engines? Or is it because it had a catalytic converter(?) and other fume emission control stuff? Here

In the US, the Nissan 210 w/A12A engine, circa 1979-1982, competes against the original 1200 in the SCCA GT5 road racing class. I had heard from a 1200 GT5 stalwart that several 210's
had been disqualified for using the original 1200 crank in an A12A (gotta use original parts, or billet-made - can't swap parts among engines. Strange world.) My understanding is the
A12A guys are upset because to successfully run the same RPM, they have to have a custom crank made, rather than just using the A12 forged crank.

Hi Group,
I just paid 20 bucks for another parts car and it
had some weird looking items on it. It looked like an A15 at first But, I pulled the head and found
small round ports and an unmarried water cooled
intake, also small round ports. The exhaust manifold will fit the A14 but the A14 intake won't
clear the exhaust. I have a spare intake that I can modify to fit though. I think the exhaust manifold
will flow better(more tubular deeign) till we get our header we are making that will fit the non-race heads and still deliver the torque we want. One note about the head off
this engine is that has a way cool smaller heart shaped combustion chamber but same size valves. I'll see
if I can port it enough to work on the A14!
We have gotten back to racing and the car is super consistant yesterday they were calling us the Giant killers as we dusted off a 10. sec corvette roadster!!
C-Ya
Steve
