just a few questions my h145 diff. i was wondering if there is anyway i can pull the diff centre out without have to pull the axles out, im guessing theres not. how hard is it to pull the axles out, and how do i go about it? also ive heard that its not easy to get to the gears to weld them on h145's?? is this true and how should i go about getting it locked up? im used to the old r180's.

Yeah I'm about to put a H165 LSD into my coupe, how hard is it and what all is involved with pulling the axles out and replacing the center pumpkin?

Hey Drift,
the bad news is ... the axles have to come out !! Not difficult but Datsun didn't really think about this when they designed the brake backer as a bearing retainer .
I have a welded H145 centre + housing + springs with lowering blocks that I took out of my coupe - going cheap. PM me if you're interested.
Cheers

Take ur wheels off take ur drums off ul see for 12mm bolts i think unbolt them disconnect ur handbrake,Bolt the wheel back on the wrong way around just finger tight so it still moves give it a few hard pulls then pop. It used to take me bout 15min an axle by myself.

After the axels are out tailshaft off make sure you mark its position then drain diff oil and pull the centre out.
To easy.

whats the easiest way to get them out. just pull them untill they pop out? is there anything inside the diff that has to be undone or should they just slide out after a bit of reefing

just when you unbolt your tailshaft from the diff centre just mark a line across both flanges so when you bolt it back in the same holes match up again.

Just make sure your driveshaft gets bolted back on the same way it came off. Although if your driveshaft has been balanced it usually isn't much of an issue. Sounds easy enough to pull the diff and axles out. I'll be doing it this weekend probably.

mark the position of the diff axle housings on the leaf springs with white marker or whatever.

that way you won't have a crabbing car when you put it back together
