adjusting drum brakes

hey has anyone adjusted drums before
is it hard to do
how bad could i stuff it up
is it worth trying or should i leave it to the experts
$$$$$ expected to pay for someone else to fix it

Hey champ, jack up the rear wheels one at a time. Remove the wheels. Dont need to take the drums apart (hub off) unless shoes are worn, might be worth checking first time. But other wise just check the inside of the drum brake and you will see a square adjuster screw. Turn clockwise i think and with each turn (should click sorta into place) check if the wheel spins freely. Once you get to a point where the wheel doesnt spin freely turn the screw anticlockwise one notch. Should spin freely then. Thats best adjustment. Need to do it to both sides. Handbrake should be fine after adjustment.

Oh and make sure the wheels are chocked and the handbrake is off before you staret on each side.

Yeah like above said. Just wind in the square screw until it wont spin freely and the just back it off until it does. Works best if you leave them grab just a little. Don't take it anywhere though you can do it yourself in like 5min and you can't stuff anything up.
