Hi im looking for some rear shocks for my 1000 2 door sedan... are there any direct bolt ins, or shocks that would fit in with some limited modifications? (i.e. no power tools?)

The rear shocks for the Datsun 1200 Coupe & the 120Y Coupe are interchangeable with all Datsun 1000 model rears. They are not identical as I think they are a whisker longer, but they are interchangeable & i ran KYB gas ones in my '68 sedan since about 1981. Hell, they're still there & still good. I have Koni adjustables for my coupe.

If lowering with blocks, the distance between the shock mounting points remains unchanged. All the blocks do is space the axle upwards from the springs, but the bottom plate & the shock mount stay with the spring which still has it's original 'set' or curvature, so no need to change shocks.

As I though...... but couldn't make my head understand
I still need (want) new shocks though
I have just purchased all new rubber bushes front and rear so the old wagon is about to get a suspension birthday

Take a sample shock to a reputable suspension place & see what they can do. I'm pretty sure that you will find that the 1200/ 120Y coupe shock will do the trick & with any luck, it will be available in several 'grades'
While you are messing with the rear suspension, check to see if the interleaf rubbing blocks have survived. If so, then use one as a sample & see if you can get a spring place to come up with a generic replacement as these things make a big difference to ride quality.
