Hey guys i know this isnt really the place to be asking about 2 strokes but i couldnt think of any where ells with as much motoring experiance
What i wanted to know was there any easy ways to get more power out of a 2 stroke (victa 160)
Its for my younger brother that has court the rev head bug i have built him a motorizd bike and he wants more power.

So any help would be great

have a search for DIY head porting on the net. Provided you have some idea what your doing its quite possible to achieve a bit of hp out of this for not much cost. mate of mine did it to his scooter a while back, and it went heaps better... (too bad he bent the frame on it doing jumps...)

being a 2 stroke it would probably take to a nice expansion chamber on the exhaust if it doesn't have one already.

Have a play with the jetting. see if you can drill out the jets or something. Make sure you do your research first though, and don't wreck it.

Hell yeah. Two stroke performance improvements on Victa's go back to the early 60's when they were first used in Go-Carts. The 125 engine started reaching the limits of reliability when power started climbing above 20hp I'm told. [ummmmm, if you say so.]

I have a 125 Go-Cart engine with dual Tillotsen carbs, reed valves, magaphone exhaust, stuffed crankcase [using corks] & some cylinder & port mods that I could hardly believe. It also uses a flat top race piston with a modified special race head. It's fitted with high volume transfer port covers with external fastening [to remove the internal restriction of the original stud.]
One of these days I will get the right Mculloch chainsaw flywheel & magneto for it.
Aparently the Victa flywheels come apart rather badly at more than 10,000 rpm so i'm told.

I also built another 1956 model Victa 125 engine for mini bike use with single Tillotsen carb [Stihl chainsaw], modified race head, stuffed crankcase, enlarged ports & race type transfer port covers with waisted studs to hold them on.

These are both display-only engines these days. Photo's available on request.

well last night i had a thought about the twin carb idea so i got 2 of the carbies and built a manifold to hold my carbs so i put it on it sun a bit slower so i had a look and the govners were stuck on i fixed that and then had another look and oooo it has a lot beter acceleration and reves alot harder but it shook heaps so i had a look at the flywheel and your right it had cooling fins missing i will have to look at the exhaust 2day

yeah we did that at school the twin carb thing.. we had it mounted in the vice and when it was running full throttle you could see light between the head and the cylinder.. still went though..
