Dear All,
i have a A 14 motor that i have worked on a little but i cant get the rpm any thing above 6000, it was balanced, the head was ported and gas flowed, and i am running a 262 deg cam, lightend flywheel, and twin 40s!
Any Idea why i cant get higer rpm?

Hey Sakkie.

Where in South Africa are you?
Before you do anything, get it on a dyno and do a power run to see what it does.
Post it up here and see what the guys say.

Also, give some more info. Does it sound asif it is valve bouncing at 6000rpm or does it just start to struggle to climb in revs.

i stay in Pretoria,
i did fit 2lt sentra valves and i have double valve springs, let me give the complete kit starting on the head,
A 14 Head, 2lt sentra valves,VW polo Valve guides, Alfa valve springs,
The Sub, well i fitted a A 15 Carnk, with 1500 pistons Giving me a total 1540cc ( I dont know if that is where my problem is for not getting more) standart conrods. and a 262deg van der linde cam, and all was balanced.

It just struggles to climb in refs.
i am still running the standard feul pump can that also be a problem to get more feul on high rpm?

yea the fuel pump is probably the problem. also check your carbs are opening fully, often the throttle is set wrong and is only opening most of the way. maybe you're leaning out at high rpm, check your plugs to see if its running rich or lean. check your timing, could be out. Is it pinking or reall sluggish down low? best bet is to get some time on a dyno. I had an a12 with standard valve springs and it pulled 7 no worries, however i did notice the difference when I got doubble springs.

fit an electronic distributor if you haven't already, points tend to bounce at high revs.

I would be surprised if it is the fuel pump. I still run the standard pump and have not had a problem with it, but if the fuel pump couldn't keep up, the engine should still be able to go full noise until the float chambers get low shouldn't it?
Could be points bounce but I used to run the standard distributor in my A15, standard valve springs as well and it ran to 7K no problem.
