i was talkin to a panel beater in medowie today, hes pretty good with the stuff he does and he was sayin he does all his stuff with a sand blaster. i had a look and its one of them 50 dollar jobs from toolies, i had a bit of a think about it, i dont think u would get much warp if u was to use the small cheapo set because i dont think there would be enough flow af media to actually hit the panel up... oposed to the big industrial blasters? can i have some opinions?

It'd be tough getting through the layer upon layer of paint with that. If you have a lot of spare time you could strip a whole car, and I mean A LOT OF TIME!!

The other side is don't sandblasters need to be enclosed? I'm pretty sure you'd need a blast shed for sandblasting, garage won't do.

You could always do it old school, tins of paint stripper.

no not necisarily, ive done a fair bit of sand blasting at home, theres an industrial sand blast place near my place and my old man knows the owner and we just get a couple of old 30 litre drums filled up. heavy stuff it is. real messy too. bit it works well.

If you're gonna go to that trouble why not pay the sandblasters to do it for you? Most sandblasters with automotive experience should be able to avoid severe warping.

Make sure they have automotive experience though. There are a lot of industrial blasters out there who specialise in structural blasting, like warehouses, which obviously use stronger and thicker steel.

EDIT: all power to you to wanting to give it a go yourself, good luck with it mate if you do.

yaeh i read through the whole post and seen the vid, yeah i'll do it myself when i get the chance. i'll just have to take it steady with it i think. just do a little bit it a time, most of the thik bog is off, i did it all with wire wheel on a grinder, #### there handy, so its mainly just paint and hard to reach places. just gotta put the diff back under neath it and sit the struts which reminds me i stil have to by adjustable tops for.. hmm tax money.
