ok, some i keep encountering the same bizarre bidding strategy on ebay, and i'd appreciate it if you fellas could clue me in on why it's a good strategy:

i usually wait until the last few minutes to place a bid, but i place my maximum bid and leave it at that

then along comes the bidder whom i just outbid who proceeds to bid against me 15 times in increments of $5

does the person usually win the auction using this method? no!

for some reason, he usually stops before he outbids me

at first i thought it was shill bidding, but it's happened in different auctions with varying circumstances, so i've ruled that option out

what ... is ... the ... deal?

Either that or they're a tight ass scared you might have some gigantic max bid.

It's happened to me plenty of times as well.

doesnt matter if the winning bid is gigantic

just place your max bid and if its enough.. you win..

theres no point to bidding 1000 times.

Yeah it does. If I'm the high bidder with a $500 max bid and someone else wants the part but they're only prepared to part $300 for it they're likely to place the $300 then incriment from there.

They don't know what my max bid is, and no one ever wants to overpay.

I agree with u though, it is ridiculous to bid 1000 times. I personally know what I wanna pay n if someone outbids then they've got deep pockets or need it more than me.

if someone has bid, and you want the item

you have to BEAT them.

so even if u bid $1,000,000 in 1 shot. you will only pay enough to beat them.

you can put 100 bids in $2 incriments but you will have bid the same amount once you finally beat them.

thats why you decide how much YOUR willing to pay. and bid accordingly.

you win some. you lose some.

i pretty much wait til there is only a few mins left..like under 10mins, n then i put in my max bid n see how many people start bidding as well...if i REALLY REALLY want the item i might bid upto $10-$15 more then i had planned..but once the price gets to a point where i could just buy it for that price at the shops then i give up.....personally i used that method ONLY when i see a really nice pair of heels on ebay..but then again i am a girly girl with a car loving side!!!
