If the headbolts are pitted with rust then replace them. You wouldnt want to snap one when retensioning them would you?

How do you adjust tappets (pardon my ignorance).
Don't they just sit in their bores and get pushed when the camshaft pushes them?
I know about adjusting valve clearances....just can't think of anyway to adjust tappets...

Ok - in the Datto workshop manuals they use tappet to mean lifter....the thing between the actual camshaft and the push rod.
Rocker arms is a whole different story and I understand how and why to adjust those.
Ah learn something new every day...

The terms 'tappet, lifter, & cam follower' are all used to describe the same thing & to 'adjust the tappets' is an industry phrase that usually translates to 'adjust the valve stem to rocker arm clearance' [OHC engines excepted] Yeah, I know, why can't they say exactly what they mean.

by porting the head it won't make any extra power but will allow for more power to be made with bolt on's and a camshaft, basically if you had all the performance goodies bolted to your engine it will still only make as much power as the head can flow, so by porting the head you will now be able to build power from there on
